Three Uses for Recycling a Nappy Box

It can vary between different brands and shops but the nappies that we buy can often come in a cardboard box. Instead of continuously recycling these boxes, you could save money by re-using them and up-cycling them into various storage solutions.

Now I realise that this is quite a self-explanatory craft activity, but it’s something that as busy parents we may overlook. It’s cheap to do and can be a great, quick solution to a storage issue you may have around the house.

1. A Transportable, Light-Weight Clothing Storage Organiser

Firstly, you could turn your box into a transportable clothing box.

This clothing box can help to segment clothes out and is a great one to keep at the grandparents house for your baby’s clothes. It helps to keep them neatly organised in different categories such as jackets, tops and trousers. I love using my Dymo Label Maker, as shown below to make the labels for my storage boxes too!

To make it, simply cut the top flaps off your cardboard box and cover your cardboard box in pretty wrapping paper. Next, using the left-over pieces of cardboard from the lid, create two (or more) dividing sections and cover these too with wrapping paper. Stick them in place inside the box and use stickers to label your clothing sections.

2. A Simple Toy Box

Instead of recycling your box, you could simply use it as a toy box. Cut the lids off the box and cover it with decorative wrapping paper of your choice. Again, you could create a dividing section if you wanted to as well.

3. A Storage Box

Finally, why not turn your old box into a storage box for items from around the house. From your children’s craft accessories such as bulky bottles of paint and paint brushes, right through to your household cleaning items, the humble nappy box can make a great practical storage solution for lots of things.

I used a shiny gold paper to cover mine as shown above.
