Christmas Snow Magic Sensory Tray for Children

Christmas Snow Magic Sensory Tray for Children

Sensory trays are an amazing way for children to explore textures. Have you ever tried making a sensory tray in the festive period with Magic Snow? It is a tiny tube of powder that expands up to 100 times when it comes into contact with water! It feels just like real snow and can be a lovely way for children to get into the Christmas spirit and to imagine that they are playing in the snow!

We loved adding some cute mini Christmas trees to our festive snow tray and mini Christmas tree decorations such as baubles and mini pine cones.

My daughter played with the cones and organised them into a pile. We counted them and discussed the different textures in our tray.

These mini festive baubles that we used in our Winter sensory tray are also excellent for decorating your children’s mini Christmas trees, mini Christmas trees for your office or home or for putting in bowls and vases as display centre pieces.

Mini pine cones are very versatile craft items and make really cute additions to a miniature Christmas tree! They can also be used for children’s crafts for painting, sticking pom-poms on or even to put bird feed in-between and hang from a tree.

We just loved the natural, rustic outdoor feel they added to our Winter sensory tray.

They have so many uses in crafting and look lovely with some glitter glue on or sprayed with silver or gold paint too.

Why not add some ribbon to the pine cones with a glue gun to make them into mini Christmas tree decorations too or tie them to gifts for a lovely, natural touch.

This ‘SnoBall’ snow from Zimpli Kids is fantastic because it is exactly the same concept as Magic Snow. Only here you get four sachets of the powder to help with portion controlling the amount you need for each session.

The sachets are great for travel, to give as four individual gifts to children at Christmas or to save each sachet for a sensory play day!

We have a variety of trays and bowls which we use for sensory play. For smaller activities, it is a great idea to invest in some small, colourful trays

They can be used for all manner of sensory play activities at home with your children as well as for painting, counting activities, making slime or even for making a fairy garden outside.

The possibilities are endless and they are stackable and small so easy to store in your craft cupboard or drawer.

Let me know if you make a Winter Sensory Tray at home and what materials you used in yours!
