Sensory Light Water Bead Bottles

Sensory Light Water Bead Bottles

Water beads are fantastic for sensory play for older children. However, sensory bottles that are securely glued/closed shut can also be suitable for younger children to explore water beads safely as well.

We love adding glow sticks to ours as we love the way the light reflects off the water beads. It acts as an amazing night light too!

We used old water bottles that had been cleaned out. You may wish to do this too or to purchase larger bottles specifically designed for sensory play such as these here.

Sensory Water Bead Bottles Prep

1. To make your very own sensory light water bead bottle, allow your water beads to first soak in water for at least one hour.

2. Next, use a small funnel to add them to your water bottle. Crack the glow sticks to activate them and push them into the middle of the bottle.

3. Then finally, use a glue gun to securely glue the lid of the bottle onto the bottle top. This will help to ensure that little hands cannot twist or undo the bottle contents.

It really is as simple as that and you will have an amazing sensory light water bead bottle to play with!

This is the glue gun (shown above) that I have and I find it not only heats quickly and effectively, but also has a small silver stand under the nozzle which helps with standing it upright. This is very helpful during crafts!

We used clear water beads for one of our sensory light bottles and coloured rainbow water beads for the other. Although you could even mix them together in your sensory bottle too!

Sensory Water Bead Bottles

I hope that you enjoy making your very own sensory water bead bottles at home.

Remember you could even add glitter or other small sensory items such as plastic bugs or plastic counting bears to yours. Why not theme your sensory bottle by the time of year or a special celebration too.

*Always remember to securely glue your sensory bottle closed and that this activity always requires active supervision from an adult.

These sensory tubes shown above are great for encouraging children ages two and over to explore and develop their sensory awareness.

I love that some of the lids have holes in them to allow for smelling the contents and that they are large enough (30cm tall) to fit items such as pine cones in too!
