My Top 10 Baby Products

Becoming a parent is one of the most exciting experiences in life! I was happy and excited for this new chapter in my life. Although a whole new world of baby products opened up before me and I was daunted about all the different types of strollers and the different types of beakers and bottles! How do I know what will work for my family?

So I went online, read reviews, watched You tube videos, I listened to family and friends who had become parents and it’s through this that I slowly learned about what had worked for other people and discovered what worked for me!

So I wanted to share some of my favourite baby products with you incase it helps you out as I understand that becoming a new parent can be an overwhelming experience as it is, let alone getting to grips with all these new products too!

So let’s explore my top 10 baby products.

1. Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Health Care Kit

Every parent will need to brush their child’s soft hair, encourage them to chew on their first soft toothbrush, clip their tiny and delicate nails and check their temperature with a thermometer. I found that This kit contained everything I would need. It has two hair brushes and I still reach for the large soft brush now to comb those baby hairs that stick up on my five year old as well as my toddler. The nail scissors have been used all the time and still are as I love the curved shape of the tip as it makes it easier on little nails.

The thermometer has been invaluable for checking my children’s temperatures when they are sick or have a fever and I liked that Tommee Tippee are a trusted brand so I felt I could trust their thermometer when my baby was ill rather than if I had bought a generic, cheap thermometer that wasn’t part of a kit.

The toothbrush bristles are lovely and soft and take away that hassle of shopping for one extra baby item. This Tommee Tippee Health Care Kit makes life so much easier as all the basic, medical essentials are together in one handy-sized travel case. I have even washed the case itself on occasion to freshen it up and clean it and it has washed really well too.

The nasal aspirator got used lots as well when my babies were very little and had a blocked or congested nose, as you just squeeze the rounded part whilst delicately placing the tip in their nose and it helps to suck away blockages in the nasal passages.

I found that I didn’t use the mini nail file emery boards much but I liked that they were there incase as this could be helpful if your baby wriggles a lot when you try cutting their nails with scissors. The nail file would be a useful alternative in this situation! A great tip is to try and cut their nails when they are resting or sleeping peacefully.

Here is a list of everything the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Kit contains: 1 digital oral thermometer, 1 baby brush, 1 baby comb, 1 pair of baby scissors, 1 pair of baby nail clippers, 2 emery boards, 1 toothbrush, 1 nasal aspirator, 1 instruction leaflet. I am still pleased I purchased this item and I would do again. I still find parts of it useful today, nearly five years later! A great all-round kit.

One of the first things I bought when I found out I was pregnant, was this lovely set of cellular blankets. This Bloomsbury Mill Twin Pack are fantastic because they are made from organic cotton and feel so soft and breathable.

I use mine in the cot, the buggy, as a play mat on the floor both at home and at my parent’s house and as a general blanket at home. I have discovered that these cellular blankets can be used to build dens and can even be used as a picnic rug outdoors!

If you have a friend or family member who is pregnant and expecting their first baby then giving a blanket is a lovely gift idea as it is such as versatile, useful and practical gift. Cellular blankets are especially good because they are more breathable as the ‘cell’ formation of the fabric helps to trap air and keep your baby cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Weaning is something that hits around six months of age but you may find that your baby wants to chew items and put things in their mouths from around four months old. This set of Food Feeder Pacifiers has been fantastic because it has helped my children to explore fruit and other textures safely.

I also love the leak-proof caps that each feeding dummy comes with as these are great for on-the-go picnics or for keeping in your handbag when travelling and being out and about with your weaning baby.

This is because the food is encased in the food grade safe silicone pouches. I loved that the three sizes are actually for different ages so you have the smallest one for babies aged 4-6 months, the middle sized one for ages 6-9 months and the largest one for babies over 9 months old.

I also love the handy clip it comes with as we used this when out on walks in the buggy in case my babies were to drop it.

I found these pacifiers to be very easy to wash and clean out and I loved the gender neutral yet colourful designs.

This spiral hanging toy is absolutely fantastic and just looking at it reminds me of when my first baby was little and playing with it on the floor! I love the sweet little bird in the middle too! The mirror is so much fun for your baby to explore their own reflection and the cute flower rattle is a great sensory addition to this toy. It basically feels like lots of toys in one!

What I love about this spiral toy is that you can wrap it around the bars of a playpen, take it in the car, wrap it around a buggy or car seat or let your baby explore the textures and toys whilst doing tummy-time on the floor. It is an extremely versatile toy that my children have had a lot of use out of.

Black, white and red are also the first colours that your baby can see so this toy can really stimulate their eyes and visual senses.

I first wrapped my spiral toy around my baby’s cot bars and also around the handle of their buggy. This meant my child had a toy to play with that was soft, safe and interesting when we were out and about.

Then, as my children started having tummy time and crawling, I placed this toy on the bars of their play pen and wiggled it on the floor and over their heads which made them excited and engaged.

I would highly recommend this spiral toy as it can be safely secured to so many places, both in and out of the home.

In addition, when it gets grubby with food marks and dribble on it, it is safe to wash in the washing machine to come out sparkling clean again!

It would make a lovely gift to new parents too.

Stacking cups are such a classic toy aren’t they? Every baby enjoys building towers and learning about shapes, sizes and different colours. I bought this set of colourful stacking cups for my first baby and I found that she loved to pretend to use them as cups long before she built her first tower!

We even used them in the bath as fun bath time cups to fill water with and as pretend cups for tea parties with her soft toys.

I love that they encourage the discussion of colours as well as size and that they can help to improve baby’s grip and awareness of balance too, so these stacking cups are really versatile.

All the while you are improving your child’s physical development and I would highly recommend some simple stacking cups for your new-born to play with.

I exclusively breastfed my babies but sometimes I pumped milk if I felt that my breasts were too full or leaking when my baby was asleep. Blocked ducts in the breast can of course cause mastitis and infections so it is important to discuss this with your midwife if you are planning on breastfeeding or have any concerns.

I liked that this pump was easy to use, had a soft, large and flexible cup attached and that it even came with a steriliser box. I’ll admit that we still even use the steriliser box now as a cleaning box around the house!

I liked that it came with a little cup and lid so you can pump one lot of milk and store it in there and still have space for another feed in the pump itself. You then simply attach the teats to the top for your baby to drink. As I was going to breastfeed I didn’t think that I would need a pump initially, but I am so glad that I purchased this one from Tommee Tippee, a brand I knew and trusted as I really did need it.

Great for pumping milk if you have a babysitter or the grandparents watching your little one briefly or even to let your partner feed your baby too if you are breastfeeding as this can be a wonderfully bonding moment for them as well. I would highly recommend this manual breast pump set from Tommee Tippee.

When I became a parent, I quickly learned that this Tomy Tommies Hide and Squeak Egg Toy was a family staple in every house! Not only do these eggs feature bright, colourful and engaging little faces, they also have different shapes on the bottom of the eggs which you have to match into the correct holes. In addition, they make little squeaking noises when pressed!

My children still to this day play with this toy and I am so glad that we purchased it. It would make a fantastic gift and I know I would have loved to receive it for my children in those early days.

I like that you can even match the colourful faces on the eggs to the colour of the eggs inside or you can play a game hiding the wrong egg under a different coloured egg shell!

This fantastic toy helped my children to learn about shapes, colours and to count to six. They still use it now in their play kitchen and pretend to crack eggs over a frying pan and cook them!

A wonderful educational toy that will provide hours of fun. Did I mention it also comes in a nifty yellow egg box that locks closed too?! (This is great for keeping the eggs altogether and for travelling!)

I have to mention this excellent baby carrier as it was worth it’s weight in gold. I loved the soft, padded design and even the gender neutral colour. It has easy to use click buckling straps and I found the waist adjuster easy to use as I could pull it on myself without assistance.

(This is important when you have a crying toddler and a sleepy new-born on your hands! As some baby carriers look like you’d need about three people from NASA to help you strap into them. But this one from Chicco was easy to do on my own!)

l especially liked that my baby could sit in different positions in it. So you can place them front and forward facing or backwards facing in it. I found the light padding on the shoulders was very nice and really helped support my back and shoulders as carrying the weight of your baby can get heavy.

It is suitable from birth to 9 kg which is approximately 9 months of age.

I also really liked the part that cushions the head of your baby because this felt spacious and wide and quite high up which gives you more reassurance when your baby is starting to support their own head too. A great baby carrier that I would highly recommend.

I couldn’t not mention this beautiful Clair de Lune Moses basket that I used, as your baby’s Moses basket is such a special item that you look back on and cherish with fond memories. Even looking at this picture now reminds me of when my children were new-borns!

I loved that this Moses basket from Clair de Lune which came with everything I needed from the blanket and a fitted cot sheet right through to the mattress. I especially liked the soft, cotton star that hangs from the adjustable hood cover too. (A built in soft toy for your baby to admire).

The wicker design is portable and light-weight. Great for when you need to lift the Moses basket upstairs or from room to room as we invariably do as parents.

I especially liked the soft waffle design on the blanket fabric as it seemed cosy and snug. It washes well and I haven’t had problems with it bobbling much over the years.

It has carry straps but I preferred to lift the basket itself although you may find the straps useful.

A wonderful Moses basket that I am still glad I purchased and I would highly recommend this one from Clair de Lune.

Having a separate baby bath for your new-born is so invaluable as it means you are wasting less hot water filling an entire bath tub up each night. It is also much safer for your baby to wash in a smaller volume of water.

This simple, plain white baby bath is sturdy and has two soap holders which are very useful to put soap and a small sponge in. I found it easy to clean and it has lasted very well over the last six years!

I like that the back part is sloped and is great for supporting your baby’s head and water can be filled to a perfect depth in here for a young toddler too.

A great all-round baby bath that has been well designed and one that I would highly recommend to family and friends with a new baby.

I hope that you have found my top 10 Baby product reviews useful and that it can help you make even more informed decisions when it comes to purchasing what is right for yours and your baby’s needs.
